Military experience builds a rare kind of professional: sharp, steady and ready to lead. At Elevated, we see the value in that and have built a workplace where it doesn’t go unnoticed. Our field technicians keep entire systems running safely and efficiently. That kind of responsibility calls for people who stay calm under pressure, think on their feet and show up for the team — qualities that come naturally to those with military backgrounds.
Explore why veterans are a great fit at Elevated, how your experience can be put to work in a technician role and what a career with us can look like.
Our Commitment to Hiring Veterans
Hiring veterans isn’t a side effort — it’s a core part of Elevated’s talent strategy. We aren’t just looking for technicians, we’re looking for Field Leaders. The discipline, work ethic and leadership that military service instills are active qualities we seek when building our team. With roles available across 21 states, Elevated offers a purpose-driven career where veterans can continue serving others in a meaningful way.
When former military leaders are transitioning to the next chapter of their lives, they aren’t just looking for a job, they are looking for a career. They’re also seeking an environment that reflects the esprit de corps they experienced in service. Elevated offers both, while placing high value on the expertise these individuals possess.
Our Vice President of Operations, Greg Nagle, is a Marine Corps veteran whose own path from military service to executive leadership exemplifies this initiative. He continues to champion the development of career paths that set veterans up for long-term success.
Technician Careers Built for Veterans
Veterans bring the kind of mindset we value most: disciplined, team-oriented and focused on the mission. Your military background, whether in mechanical systems, electrical work or operations, translates directly to our field technician roles.
You won’t be starting over. With a structured career path, field mentorship and real advancement opportunities, Elevated provides the tools you need to grow fast and do work that matters. You’ll be part of a mission-focused team where your contributions directly impact safety, reliability and performance across the communities we serve.
Career & Education Training Program: What to Expect
Our Career & Education Training (CET) program is a four-year, federally approved apprenticeship that combines web-based learning with real-world experience. After a short probationary period, new hires begin the program under the guidance of in-house CET-S supervisors and senior leadership mentors. You’ll complete each level of training while earning and gaining hands-on expertise in the field.
Here is an overview of each CET program level and what you can expect:
- Apprentice Level: Demonstrates mechanical and electrical aptitude, understands basic safety procedures and has earned an OSHA 10 certification.
- Level 1 Technician: Proficient in basic mechanical troubleshooting, meets all safety standards and possesses mechanical and electrical competencies.
- Level 2 Technician: Performs basic maintenance and repairs, interprets wiring diagrams accurately and demonstrates consistent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Level 3 Technician: Proficient in comprehensive maintenance and repair processes, skilled in systematic troubleshooting and exhibits strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Level 4 Technician: Certified CET or holds NEIEP certification, leads on-site operations, demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills and possesses extensive technical knowledge of elevator systems.
- Level 5 Technician: Field leader skilled across all major elevator brands, responsible for implementing efficiency initiatives and expanding the service and repair pipeline.
- Lead Technician: Subject matter expert in field operations and safety, influential in training and mentoring peers and is dedicated to continuous performance improvement.
Once you’ve reached Level 2, you also have the opportunity to transition into management, sales or supervision career paths if you’re interested in expanding your professional options.
Veterans with qualified technical or electrical experience may enter the program on an accelerated path. If you pass the year two exam early, you’ll move straight into year three, opening the door to higher compensation and faster advancement.
Opportunities Beyond the Uniform
As an elevator technician, you’ll take on critical work that affects building safety, public confidence and daily life. You’ll solve real problems, support your team and help build something that lasts. Veterans tend to thrive in this role because they’re built for high-stakes work that demands focus and follow-through. With executive-level mentorship, competitive benefits and a workplace culture built on respect and accountability, you’ll have a clear path forward and a team that backs you every step of the way.
Why Veterans Choose Elevated Over Union Roles
For many veterans entering the civilian workforce, union jobs may seem like the default path in the elevator industry. But Elevated offers something different. Here, veterans find an environment that values performance, leadership and initiative over seniority or time-in-grade.
Unlike traditional union structures, where advancement often depends on tenure, Elevated rewards growth with merit-based opportunities, faster promotion timelines and access to leadership development. You’ll have the freedom to shape your career, the flexibility to take on new challenges and a team that recognizes your potential from day one.

What Our Veterans Say
Veterans across the company are stepping into roles where their leadership, technical skills and mission-first mindset are deeply valued. One example is T.J., a former U.S. Navy Search and Rescue Instructor who found a long-term career at Elevated.
From Service to Skilled Trade
T.J. O’Dell, Navy Veteran and Elevated Branch Manager
T.J. spent 10 years in the Navy, completing two deployments and earning multiple commendations, including two Navy Air Medals. When his military career ended, he focused on finding stability and a clear path forward in civilian life.
“My main goal coming out of the military was to find a career that would take care of me and my family,” he says. “I found that path inside the elevator and vertical transportation industry. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.”
T.J. joined Elevated as a Business Development Manager in Jacksonville. Seven years later, he’s now a Branch manager in three major Florida markets: Orlando, Tampa and Pensacola. “Elevated is a great path for anyone coming out of the military, especially those with electrical and mechanical backgrounds,” T.J. says. “[It] has become part of my family, and I cannot see myself anywhere else.”
T.J.’s story shows what’s possible when veterans are given the guidance, trust and opportunity to succeed.
